Jason and Lucia: what Rockstar has shown of the two heroes of GTA VI
A former soldier who works for the smugglers of the Keys, and a young woman fresh out of the Leonida penitentiary who only wants to pull smart jobs from now on. Rockstar presented Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in May 2025, then six other characters. Here is what is said, what is shown, and what it changes for your game.
Jason Duval
Jason, the former soldier of the Keys
The official presentation, in one sentence: raised among crooks, he works for the smugglers of the Keys, what he does best, and would like an easy life.
Jason lives in the Leonida Keys, in a stilt house lent by Brian Heder, an old-school smuggler who still moves his goods through his boatyard. Trailer 2 shows him fixing a leaking roof before going to collect for Brian. His safehouse, his vehicles and his circle each have their page: Jason’s page, his safehouse, Brian Heder and Cal Hampton, the friend who listens to the coast guard from his couch.
What the videos add: Jason fishes with a rod at the back of a boat, drinks a beer at the counter, plays pool with Cal, and ends up wounded behind a fence, flashing lights behind him. An Extended Look shows his everyday life as much as his jobs. None of this says how the story begins: Rockstar keeps the rest for the game.
Lucia Caminos
Lucia, out of the Leonida penitentiary
Her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. Fighting for her family sent her to prison; freshly released, she wants the good life her mother has dreamed of since Liberty City.
Lucia is the first person Trailer 1 shows, in an orange jumpsuit, questioned at the penitentiary. Rockstar put her at the center of the official cover, alongside Jason. In the videos, she drives, shoots from the car door, hits a punching bag, gets her thigh tattooed at Electric Fang. Her page gathers the official images and the sourced facts, and the page on her journey explains where she comes from.
A satire that targets lasting flaws rather than the fads of the moment, and the modest American dream of a couple.
Two characters
Playing as two characters: what Rob Nelson said
Two playable heroes, a switch that isn’t always free, an optional romance: the Rockstar North interviews clarified the rules.
- Two playable characters, not four. Rob Nelson explained to IGN that the game almost had four playable characters before focusing on Jason and Lucia.
- Sometimes the story picks the character. According to the Famitsu interview translated by PC Gamer, some missions impose Jason or Lucia; outside of them, you switch from one to the other.
- The romance is optional. Rockstar told IGN that the relationship between Jason and Lucia stays in the player’s hands: you can live it or leave it aside.
- The effects of activities count. The gym and food change Jason and Lucia, according to what Rob Nelson described; the Gym page sums up what is said and what remains to be published.
The official summary of Trailer 2 fits in one sentence: an easy job goes wrong, and the duo ends up on the dark side of the sunniest place in the United States. For the site’s calculator, one question remains open: do Jason and Lucia share their money? As long as Rockstar hasn’t said, the business plan asks you for your assumption.

On May 6, 2025, Rockstar published eight character pages. Here are the six who revolve around the duo.
Around them, the site also documents the groups: Raul’s crew, Brian’s network, the Ambrosia biker club, the PTT Youngin$ gang and Leonida’s law enforcement, on the Gangs and factions page. Each page says where the name comes from: an official text, an image, or an identification by players, flagged as such.
