Robberies, car theft, hunting: the activities that pay in GTA VI
Between two missions, Leonida offers ways to make a living, and ways to spend it. Store robberies, stealing and selling cars, hunting, racing: here is what Rockstar has shown or said about each activity, which ones pay and which don’t, and the tool that compares them per hour of play.

Pays
Robbing a store, alone or as a pair
Rob Nelson calls it a major source of money in the game loop. The videos show how it plays out.

- Almost every store. Talking to IGN, Rob Nelson explains that you can rob just about any store; he mentions a headphone shop, a bank and a payday loan office.
- Alone or with the other character. Talking to Famitsu, he adds that you rob alone or as a pair, and that jewelry stores and small banks are better guarded than shops.
- Cameras and witnesses. Destroying the security cameras lets you leave unseen, he says; the Extended Look shows Lucia hiding her gun behind her back before walking into a shop, around 17:57.
- In the videos. Trailer 1 shows the pair robbing an Uncle Jack’s Liquor store, faces covered, around 1:16; the Extended Look chains gas stations, bandana over the face.
Pays
Stealing a car and selling it
Three methods shown, tools to get hold of, and a fence who pays less for a damaged car.
Get in
Around 6:05 of the Extended Look, in front of a Declasse Tulip, the game offers the slim jim or the broken window. Some parked cars stay locked until you have the tools, and recent ones need a key cloner.
Scan
The phone’s scanner tells you whether a car is locked, whether it has an alarm or a tracker, what it would bring at the Pay ’n’ Spray or from a fence, and how much registering it in your name would cost, according to Rob Nelson at IGN.
Deliver
Luxury cars have an alarm and a tracker; a fence can deal with them, and he pays less for a damaged car, which you can repair on the spot before delivering it.
The Stealing a car page details the three methods and the sources. And to find out what a model is worth, the Vehicles hub ranks more than three hundred pages, prices included the day they are published.
Outdoors
Hunting, fishing and racing
Mount Kalaga for hunting, fishing and off-roading, Grassrivers for the airboat, and night races in Vice City.

Pays
Hunting
According to Rob Nelson, as reported by the creator TGG, you sell what you collect. Game Informer announces more than 170 species, including rare or legendary animals to track.
The page
Doesn’t pay
Fishing
As deep as in Red Dead Redemption 2, but catches are always released: fishing serves challenges, collectibles and the story, not money.
The page
To be confirmed
Racing
Street and off-road races confirmed by Game Informer; modified cars racing at night, motorcycle races, a stock car and a rally car in the Extended Look. Earnings not published.
The page
Water activities, jet ski, kayak, diving and airboat, are confirmed by Game Informer, with no word on whether they pay. And the gym changes Jason and Lucia’s bodies rather than their bank account. The Side activities page gathers the seven pages.
The calculator
Comparing activities per hour of play
A robbery that pays a lot but needs a long prep can be worth less than a quick resale. The right measure is money per hour of play, prep and cooldown included, with your share if there are two of you. That is exactly what “My activities” calculates: you enter the earnings, the duration, the prep time, the cooldown before doing it again and your share, and it ranks them.

The day an earning is published, recorded in game or reported by two matching outlets, it enters the activity’s page with its status, its source and its date, and the calculator offers it as a reference. You can read how the site classifies a piece of information on What’s confirmed.
