The official album
Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, 34 original tracks with Atlantic Records, coming out with the game; six are available on the day of the announcement.
The first trailer announced
Sam Houser, co-founder of Rockstar, announces the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto for early December. On December 1, Rockstar sets it for Tuesday, December 5; it finally comes out on the 4th.
The press previews
Journalists describe the demo presented by Rob Nelson: the story that starts in the Keys, the size of Vice City, the lived-in safehouses.
Take-Two’s shareholder meeting
Strauss Zelnick, head of Take-Two, repeats there that GTA VI launches as a single-player game on two major platforms, and that GTA Online will keep being supported after launch.
The launch trailer
A trailer captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5, set to “Flower in a Hurricane”, the new single by Justice with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Rockstar presents Justice as the composer of the game’s original score.
The boxed version in detail
Rockstar Support updates its page on the editions: the box contains a download code, no disc, available from November 12 for preloading, and there’s no boxed Ultimate Edition.
The launch campaign, from Miami to Paris
In Miami, a “Welcome to Vice City” sign on the roof of the Kaseya Center, a blimp in Vice City colors and murals by artists featured in the game at Wynwood Walls; near Paris, a tower at the Porte de Bagnolet wrapped in the cover art, by the ring road.
The age ratings
In the United States, the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store show the ESRB Mature 17+ rating. In France, both stores show PEGI 18; PlayStation shows R18+ in Australia and CERO Z in Japan.
“The Goodtime State” collector’s box
A limited-edition box, without the game: eleven items inspired by the Macca the Gator show, from the figure to the Oakley sunglasses, to pre-order while supplies last, shipping from November 19.
The Rockstar Store collection
Rockstar launches the Grand Theft Auto VI Collection, exclusive to its store: T-shirts, caps, keychains, a money clip, a Zippo lighter, tote bags and stickers.
The date for An Extended Look
Rockstar announces An Extended Look: premiering on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 15:00 New York time (21:00 in France), then on YouTube and the game’s site at 21:00 New York time.
The November 19, 2026 release date
Rockstar announces the release for Thursday, November 19, 2026, to finish the game to the desired level of polish.
Development confirmed
In a message to the community, Rockstar confirms that development of the next Grand Theft Auto is well underway.
Bloomberg’s report on the making of the game
After a day at Rockstar North, Bloomberg describes about eight years of work, a project first called “Project Americas” and 4,711 people in 12 offices in August 2026. Rockstar denies the rumor of a cost above $1.5 billion there, without giving a figure.

IGN publishes a long interview with Rob Nelson of Rockstar North: a “Focus” mode that flags nearby police, the “Busted” screen after every arrest, a vehicle scanner on the phone, robberies possible in almost every store, and a game designed to be replayed.
An Extended Look
A 26-minute 48-second showcase, first on Netflix and then on YouTube, captured entirely in-game on PS5: missions, car theft, heists, police and Jason and Lucia’s daily life. Rockstar then adds new screenshots to its website.
The Game Informer cover story
Game Informer puts GTA VI on its cover. Its articles, made with the Rockstar team: more than 170 animal species, weather that changes from one place to another, tropical storms and hurricanes, and a ride-hailing app, Ryde Me, to get around.
LOVE magazine
Issue 27 of LOVE publishes new cover art by Rockstar, four new images of Jason and Lucia and interviews with the team: the couple’s modest American dream, and satire that targets lasting flaws rather than passing trends.
Two controllers in GTA VI colors
PlayStation unveils two limited-edition DualSense controllers, one black and one white, out November 19 at a suggested price of €84.99; pre-orders on September 10 at 10:00 local time.
Pre-orders, Ultimate Edition and Vintage Vice City Pack
Rockstar announces that pre-orders open on June 25, at midnight, local time, and presents the Ultimate Edition and the Vintage Vice City Pack. On the same day, PlayStation presents the PS5 as the best place to play the game.
The pre-order date and the cover art
Rockstar announces that pre-orders open on June 25, on digital stores and at select retailers, and reveals the official cover art in a video.
The first delay: May 26, 2026
Rockstar sets the release for May 26, 2026, later than planned, and apologizes to players.
Take-Two’s earnings
Take-Two confirms the November 19, 2026 release and keeps its full-year forecast: $8.0 to $8.2 billion in net bookings.
The six radio stations
Rockstar presents Flash FM, Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6 and Dirty South Classics, their hosts, on-demand podcasts, and a radio you can also listen to on foot. It announces the series’ biggest selection of radio and podcasts yet.
Two new songs from the album
Rockstar and Atlantic Records release “Don’t Chart” by Cardi B and “Suzuki” by Fuerza Regida. The GTA VI Music page now lists nine songs from GTA VI: The Album.
Trailer 1
The first video introduces Lucia, the State of Leonida and Vice City, over “Love Is a Long Road” by Tom Petty.
Trailer 2, the characters and the regions
On the same day, Rockstar releases Trailer 2, the pages for the eight characters, the six regions of Leonida and the first official screenshots.
Xbox: no cloud streaming to PC
After an article by The Verge, Matthew Ball, head of strategy at Xbox, writes that GTA VI launches on Xbox on November 19 and will not be streamed from the cloud exclusively or to PC.

Five announcements a day
The draw changes at midnight, Paris time. A first announcement is already on the timeline, with its date: that’s your starting point.

Read the announcement, then tap the spot on the timeline where it goes: before, between or after the ones already there.

Every announcement has a date, a status and a source. “Official”: published by Rockstar, Take-Two, Sony or Microsoft on their own channels. “Seen in media”: reported by the press, which is named.
A game never has two announcements from the same day: each announcement has only one right place. The announcements are spread over cycles where each one comes up once, and none comes back the next day.
