Overview

Marine life is the most detailed part of what Rockstar has said about animals. In the Game Informer cover story, Michael Kane announces several species of sharks, whales, rays, turtles and jellyfish, each with its own movements, and lists manatees among the native species. Scuba diving is among the activities confirmed in the same story.

What the images show

As early as Trailer 1, around 0:11, a pod of dolphins swims in a catamaran’s wake, seen from the sky. An Ultimate Edition screenshot shows two right next to the Shitzu Squalo, in front of the couple sitting at the stern. Underwater in the Keys, a sea turtle swims in the foreground of a reef dive, among schools of fish and what looks like a moray eel.

What happens in the game

Fishing is announced, but catches are always released, according to Rob Nelson, quoted by creator TGG. Nothing has been published about dangerous underwater encounters or marine animals to track.
